Barcode & QR Tools

Make, scan and check every kind of code, in your browser.

About the Barcode & QR Scanner

Point your camera at a code, or drop, paste or upload a picture or screenshot. The scanner reads every code it finds (QR, Micro QR, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417, MaxiCode, EAN, UPC, Code 128, Code 39, ITF, Codabar, GS1 DataBar and more), outlines each one, and says what it holds: a Wi-Fi network with its password, a contact card, a link and where it goes, a product number with its check digit, or GS1 data split into fields.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to scan an unknown QR code?
The scanner never opens anything by itself. A link is shown with its full address first, and only links starting with http or https get an Open button.
Why does my code not scan?
Try more light and hold the code flat, filling about half the frame. For a picture, crop closer to the code; very small or blurry codes may need a sharper photo.
Is anything I type or scan uploaded?
No. Codes are drawn and read inside your browser (bwip-js and the ZXing reader, compiled to WebAssembly); nothing you type, upload or point the camera at reaches our servers.
